The objective of this article is to analyze the manifestations of the therapeutic discourse in the program Encontro com Fátima Bernardes between 2012 and 2015 in the personal reports of celebrities and anonymous about traumatic experiences. The analysis seeks to demonstrate the constitution of a testimonial ethos that is based on the production of the authenticity of the account by the suffering. In a culture marked by therapeutic discourse, talk about itself in the program reinscribes the displacement of the individual problem to the collective by the clamor of representation through voice, body and presence that become mediatically public for exemplifying the current designs of self-esteem, self-improvement and selfimprovement in a climate of lightness, informality and relaxation. In this sense, while trauma is less what forecloses a representational chain of past events than what is overcome, witnessing is the privileged way of exposing unfortunate events, transforming sufferers into examples of survival.
