Electoral campaigns: the decision-making process marked by political and media spectacle
The political field is composed of a “political and media spectacle” (Weber, 2011) modifying and streamlining its relationship with the media field. Political events depict the struggle of power between these two fields, and it is in this sense that the election campaign has been designed in different ways every election. The search for visibility changed the forms of construction of politicians in the media. Moreover, the constant technological evolution requires candidates to think in different dissemination strategies of their thoughts and approach to the voting public. We aim then understanding how they are constructed and what strategies are employed in election campaigns, in addition to building an overview of strategies employed throughout the campaign, focusing on current customization strategies (Charaudeau, 2016; Carvalho, 2010; Marques,2016) and drama (Charaudeau, 2016; Ribeiro, 2004; WEBER, 2011).
