Abstract

This article explores the creative process behind the 2018 essay film Tabu, private property, which draws from amateur travel films shot in the 1960s in French Polynesia. In addition to examining the nature of these amateur images and the possibilities of editing archival footage, the text focuses on the distinctive characteristics of a specific type of amateur cinema: the personal travel film.
