After years in England working as an international correspondent and academic researcher, journalist and PhD in Media and Communication Cláudia Sarmento is back at PUC-Rio, where she graduated, for the second stage of the post-doctoral research she began at King's College. In a conversation about Brazilian experiences in independent journalism and alternative media - themes of the course she teaches as a visiting professor in the Postgraduate Program in Communication at PUC-Rio - Sarmento comments on aspects such as plurality, regulation, funding, technological inequality and the impact of journalism practiced outside the big media corporations.
